We are looking for an outstanding manufacturing and supply chain leader to join our management team in Bakersfield (California) as Director of Operations.
Thuasne currently has 460 employees spread across multiple sites in the United States, including our manufacturing site of Bakersfield which produces rigid orthopedic braces for patients with injuries or mobility challenges.
The Director of Operations is a key member of the senior management team of Thuasne USA and is responsible for operational excellence and customer satisfaction, reporting operationally to the CEO of Thuasne USA and functionally to the COO of Thuasne Group in France. He/she will be the key person for ensuring a culture of high performance, collaboration with multicultural cross-functional teams, continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives.
The Director of Operations ensures the global management of the manufacturing and operations department of Thuasne USA with local teams in production, industrialization, supply chain and maintenance, representing a group of 170 people (including seven direct managers) in connection with the industrial strategy of the group.
He/she is responsible for managing the manufacturing operations and inventory management activities necessary to ensure appropriate inventory levels of finished goods, intermediate product, work-in-process and raw materials.
He/she is responsible for directing the development and implementation of activities in the production, supply chain and purchasing areas to meet production goals, quality and cost objectives.
He/she prioritizes production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency and materials supply.
He/she shall set-up and manage short-term, medium-term and long-term performance improvement projects.
He/she will propose and monitor the implementation of new investments (productivity, capacity, new products …) with responsibility over technical feasibility, ROI and safety.
He/she is fully accountable for improving operational performance: service rate, productivity, quality, stock level, variances, etc…
He/she selects, develops and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function and good communication with the teams in order to encourage their involvement in improving performance.
He/she shall define performance metrics and goals for the different departments to increase operational efficiency.
He/she should set-up the industrial means to integrate new products.
He/she will prepare the operations budget by proposing future investments and expenses. He/she makes budgetary recommendations and controls capital expenditures and direct/indirect labor.
He/she participates in the company’s cross-functional projects in connection with other departments including Quality, R&D, Marketing, Finance and HR.
He/she should ensure the safety on the site (human and material resources).
You are a hands-on leader who likes to work in the environment of a small but fast moving company. You are a self-starter who can work effectively with others in a small high energy team focused on results and customer satisfaction.
You master all aspects of manufacturing and operations including production, quality, purchasing, supply chain and maintenance.
You offer an engineering education with a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering. A master’s degree in business is recommended.
You offer a minimum of 10 years leadership experience in the management of industrial activities with combined responsibility over manufacturing and supply chain and exposure to all areas of plant operations and people management.
You have an excellent understanding of device manufacturing including working with device development and you are open to digital technologies (robotization, automation). Knowledge of composite materials and/or medical devices would be a plus but is not essential.
You are an optimistic and collaborative leader with a strategic and entrepreneurial mindset (hands on and doer attitude, problem solving).
You offer a strong financial and business acumen and the experience managing budgets with an analytical and data driven approach.
You offer an outstanding proximity with your teams and the ability to listen, communicate and work cross-functionally with other corporate departments and company’s international headquarters.
You have the ability to foster an atmosphere of innovation and risk-taking, to nurture a culture of staff development, empowerment, mobility and high performance.
You offer a performance improvement and results orientation and you are capable of carrying out projects in the short, medium and long term.
You are authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Full fluency (verbal and written) of the English language is a must. Knowledge of French language would be a serious advantage.
